How do i change this about myself?

I try to dissociate myself, outwardly at least when people are rude or aggressive towards me. Even if I am very upset or hurt, I will never show it to their faces, and find this much more effective than trying to engage in a verbal battle. I have been called "aloof" but I don't mind, because few people get the satisfaction of knowing they are hurting me.
