10 Points! Should I go on this date with him?

Today I was asked to go to the band banquet with a boy I "Kinda" Know. He's nice, gives me compliments, but I have never had a real conversation with him. I asked my buds and they said to go with him because he's nice and pretty good looking. But then others, such as my friends outside of band have told me before hand that he is kinda "girl crazy." So what do I do? I half want to go with him, then the other half says no. I know it shoudn't be THAT big of a deal, but it is to me. What do you guys think I should do? As well, his best friend told me that he asked me for the heck of it, he thought I was cute so "Why Not?". Isn't that settling? Thanks guys!
