Do I need to test my salt tanks PH, Nitrite, Nitrate levels?

I have a 30 gallon with live rock. live sand, Tetra Whisper filter and my protein skimmer is supposed to be here the 11th - should I test my water now or wait a couple days? The water has been cycling for a week now but we just bought our damsel, choc. starfish, and red leg hermit crab today. Thanks for any advice!
